EdTech That Transforms How Institutions Teach and Learn
Learning management systems, student engagement platforms and institutional analytics for universities, RTOs and EdTech companies.
The Pain Points We Understand
We've worked inside education deeply enough to know exactly what keeps technology leaders up at night.
Legacy LMS Limitations
Moodle installations from 2015 and proprietary LMS platforms that pre-date mobile-first design are holding institutions back. They lack modern capabilities like adaptive learning paths, rich media streaming, micro-credentialling support, and the API surface needed to integrate with the broader edtech ecosystem. Maintaining and customising them is expensive, and the student experience suffers.
Student Engagement Decline
Online and blended learning cohorts struggle to stay engaged without the passive social reinforcement of campus life. Completion rates for online courses in Australian vocational and higher education remain well below face-to-face equivalents. The gap is partly content design — but it's also a technology problem: platforms that don't proactively surface the right content, flag at-risk students early or build community connections lose students to disengagement.
Compliance Reporting Burden
RTOs and providers receiving government funding face significant AVETMISS reporting obligations to NCVER, state training authorities and the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). Generating compliant NAT files from disparate student management systems, fixing validation errors before submission deadlines and maintaining the student records required for audit is a major administrative overhead that consumes resources that could be better spent on teaching.
Disconnected Student Data
Student information is fragmented across a student management system (SMS), LMS, library system, timetabling platform, pastoral care records and financial systems. Advisors, academics and administrators work from incomplete pictures of each student's progress and risk profile. The data needed for meaningful intervention — who is falling behind, who is at risk of not completing — exists in the organisation but can't be assembled quickly enough to act on.

FAQ — Education
We implement AVETMISS 8, the current standard required for all VET activity reporting in Australia. NCVER updates the standard periodically — typically with 12 months' notice — and we treat compliance rule changes the same way we treat software dependencies: we track the NCVER release schedule, test against the updated validation rules in our staging environment before the effective date, and deploy updates ahead of compliance deadlines. Our AVETMISS validation engine is implemented as a separate module specifically so it can be updated independently of the rest of the application. We also support state training authority variations (including SVTS for Victoria, Skills Gateway for NSW and CAPP for Queensland) which have requirements layered on top of the national standard.
Yes, and this is often the right approach. Both Moodle and Canvas have robust plugin and API ecosystems that allow significant extension without replacing the core platform. We build Moodle plugins (in PHP) and Canvas LTI tools (which are platform-agnostic and work in any LTI 1.3-compliant LMS) that add capabilities like custom reporting, integration with student management systems, advanced assessment workflows and interactive content types. If a replacement is warranted, we typically run the new system in parallel during a transition period rather than a hard cutover, which is less disruptive for staff and students mid-semester.
Higher Education Information Management System (HEIMS) reporting for Commonwealth-funded providers requires submission of student load, completions, staff and finance data to TEQSA and the Department of Education. We implement HEIMS data collections using the department's published data element specifications and submission formats, with validation against the HEIMS collection business rules. For universities using PeopleSoft Campus Solutions or Callista as their student management system, we build extraction and transformation layers that generate compliant submissions and reconciliation reports for the data custodian team.
LTI 1.3 is the current standard for integrating third-party tools into LMS platforms. We implement both the Tool side (building applications that embed inside Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard or D2L) and the Platform side (building custom LMS platforms that can host external LTI tools). Our LTI implementations handle the full spec: Deep Linking for content item selection, Assignment and Grades Services for grade passback, Names and Role Provisioning Services for roster sync, and the security model using signed JWTs and JWKS key rotation. We also build SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 content wrappers and xAPI (Tin Can) statement producers for content tracking in an LRS.
Yes. Independent and Catholic schools often need custom technology that sits between their student management system (typically Edumate, TASS.web, Synergetic or Sentral) and the tools teachers and parents use daily. Common projects include parent portals with real-time academic progress and attendance data, custom reporting platforms that go beyond what the SMS generates natively, and integrations between the SMS and communication platforms like Schoolzine, Operoo (Care Monkey) or SchoolStream. We also help schools with data governance — ensuring student data handling complies with the Australian Privacy Principles and, for schools receiving Commonwealth funding, the National Schools Privacy Code.
